EL PASO, Texas —The City of El Paso Environmental Services Department is bringing back the Curbside Recycling Program this month.

Recycling routes will be phased in starting the week of January 19, 2021. All customers should have curbside recycling services restored by the second week in February. The phased-in approach will enable the department to get back to every other week recycling collections.

Curbside recycling services were temporarily interrupted due to staffing shortages related by the pandemic.

“We want to thank our customers for their patience and understanding during this period.

We did not want to halt recycling collections but unfortunately, we were faced with making a hard decision. We have been monitoring our available staffing and resources, and I’m happy to announce that we will be restoring recycling collections on a phased-in approach,” Managing Director Ellen Smyth said.

Check Your Collection Schedule Starting next week customers will be able to check their updated recycling collection schedule by visiting www.elpasotexas.gov/ESD or by downloading the free ESD Works for You App. The online and mobile app services allowing customers to check their collection schedules are being updated to reflect the return of biweekly curbside recycling.

It is important for customers to check their schedules so they don’t miss their collection day. Customers may also call (915) 212-6000 for more information.
