Barajas International Airport plans to operate seven flights with America tonight following the suspension of its activities on Friday due to the historic snowfall in Madrid.

From 22:00 hours the first two flights to Miami and Santo Domingo took off and, "as conditions are met at Madrid airport", according to Aena, Iberia will also operate the night flights it had scheduled for tonight to Buenos Aires, Mexico, Sao Paulo, Santiago de Chile and Lima.

Due to coVID-19 restrictions, Lima's flight is only allowed to carry cargo, but it will bring customers from Peru to Europe.

The first flight after the suspension of activity at Madrid's Barajas airport has taken off tonight from terminal T-4, as reported by Aena, which has not specified the route of that flight.

The recovery of the airport will be very gradual, which means that returning to normal operation will take time, depending on the entity.

Iberia will inform customers directly of possible schedule changes or cancellations in the coming hours.
