Meteor falls on the most active volcano in Indonesia

The exact moment meteorite crashes into Mount Merapi– one of Indonesia's volcanoes that erupted in January and March this year.

A bright green light is seen illuminating the Indonesian sky, just above the volcano, before crashing near the summit.

To the delight of fans of such events, local photographer Gunarto Song, who for the past few months has photographed the volcano located on the island of Java.

Mount Merapi, which has a height of 2,968 meters, is the most active of Indonesia's 500 volcanoes. In the volcano's last major eruption, in 2010, more than 300 people died.

Indonesia, an archipelago with a population of 270 million people, prone to earthquakes and volcanic activity because it is in the Pacific Ring of Fire, which is an arc of faults around the ocean.
